Here's a summary. Basically starts with 5-CM, weak 2s, forcing 2C. It's not as standard as you might think, as everyone has their own take on what is their standard, but mostly along similar lines. Official guides do exist for tournaments.

Standard American is a bidding system popularized by Charles Goren in his book Contract Bridge Complete. That book is still one of the best books on the subject, and I recommend it, not only for bidding, but for play of the hand.
