More diffusion in liquids than solids due to two factors.
1.greater intermolecular distances 2.great random motion.
when water freezes to give ice the intermolecular distances increases batween water molecules but the diffusion is still less than liquids why?
Some might think that diffusion only depends on random motion of molecules not inter molecular distances how do they justify their answer?

The driving force of diffusion is difference in concentration of the compound. The molecules will tend to move towards places of lower (or zero) concentrations until the concetration equilibrates.
Therefore it only requires the ability of the molecules to move; if they are "fixed" in a crystal lattice they can't move so much.
Intermolecular distances will only affect the rate of diffusion, unless you have a big molecule like DNA trapped in a very thick gel. Then you might have so small "openings" in the gel that the big molecule cannot move through them.

1. when liquids turn solid ice, the bonds are so tight, no diffusion of other kind of materials can break these bonds without energy like heat. There is no random motion in solids, that's why you can use that to explain the lack of diffusion in solids. Go check up on solids and liquid bonding, ionic vs covalent. Intermolecular distance also depends on the type of bonding, the hardest to break and the tightest bonds should be covalent bonds which are seen in solids, that's why no diffusion can take place. Ionic bonds occur in liquids in presence of H2O which are more easily broken, thus diffusion can take place. does this make sense to you?

even the iinter moleculerspaes increased when ice is formed
it gets asolid lattice strucure which makas diffusion less
diffution depends on both factor that u've mentioned above
and also some more factors like temprature ,concentration, stirring so on
