How about a drivers license, a phone bill and a rent bill/check.

I would guess, since I am not a resident of California..but of New York, that the best forms of proof are: current driver's license or State ID; signed affidavits from two or more people (having the people show up-perhaps even getting the affidavits notarized), that aren't related to you, that would testify that you have been residing at a specific address; a utility bill; a phone bill; a deed to property; a landlord; etc.

Anytime you involve yourself in a courtroom appearance you should be under the presence of a lawyer, a lawyer will know what you need to prove residency
