for those who trust the media enough to think that the tape is protected. you are crazy. nothing is protected very well. there is somebody who has or can get access to it. they will think about it and want to make a quick buck or just be part of something big. and bc they were shooting a documentery it will be difficult to fake this video bc it would have been of the very best quality.

The tape actually belongs to Discovery Channel that also produces Animal Planet, the network that produced and ran Crocodile Hunter. Steve was working on a show for Discovery, so all the tapes belong to them. I doubt very much that any channel affiliated with Discovery would air the video. However, as some people have mentioned, once something is on video, it is very hard to keep it secret. Just because the police have it, how many people have had access to it, I would imagine a copy would get big bucks. But, I hope not.

A friend who was on TV last night, and who was there, said the tape was confiscated and is "in custody". I hope they never show it publicly, it would be too hard on his family, as if they aren't already going through enough just imagining it. Let it go!

one website already claims they have the video, but for some reason it won't let me play it. but it won't take very long for it to hit the web, because from the statements that steve irwin made himself, he said that if anything ever did happen he wanted it on tape, if he wanted it private he wouldn't have said that publicly.

I don't know about the rest of the world, but us Australians have more respect for the dead than that.
There is only one copy of the tape. the Corener has it and it will be destroyed when he/she/they are done with it.
