Circumcision is definately an earlier the better sort of thing! I would ask around, but I would expect it won't be hard to find a doctor to do the circumcison; and the longer you leave him uncircumcised the more likey he is to get a foreskin problem, and the more difficult a circumcision may become.

I had my sons circumcised after my youngest brother had tons of problems with his foreskin and needed to be circumcised!

It is much easier on a baby and its a good preventative step to future problems!

Lots of love,

Don't do it !!!!!!
there are no medical reasons why this needs to be done.
Not only will it cause the child pain and distress him it could lead to infections and all sorts. And more importantly he will look like a idiot at school and infront of the ladies ( or men) it looks horrible!!!!!!!!! leave him be. If he gets older and decides to have it done then thats fine. Why should you take away his options.

read below Should we avoid circumcision?

The foreskin is not simply a useless piece of skin, to be disposed of without careful thought. It forms the covering of the head (glans) of the penis in men and the clitoris in women. It is very rich in nerves responsible for touch and the movement of the foreskin backwards and forwards over the glans provides some of the pleasurable sensation experienced during sex.

Adult males that were circumcised as infants do not usually report sexual problems linked with their circumcision, perhaps because they have never experienced sexual sensation with a foreskin. However, men circumcised as sexually active adults quite frequently complain of sexual problems arising from either reduced or altered penile sensation.

They should cover it. Your son will be fine! Circumcisions are not life-threatening. Whether insurance covers it or not, get it done before he gets too much older. It's not a fun procedure, girl! By the way, why wouldn't Medicaid cover it? I thought that was standard baby expenses!

I am soooo glad medicaid doesn't cover circumcisions, it's an unnecessary cosmetic procedure. If they cover those, they may as well start covering nosejobs too.

However, if you've already decided to get it done, you can do it anytime. You are never too old to get circumcised, although the older he is, the more complicated the procedure and the more he will remember it.

My nephew was circumsized at 6 months due to medical complications surrounding his birth. He was cranky for a few days but that was about it so if you are set on circumcision do it as soon as posible.

My son is 2.5 and he is not either due to the same reason.

My doctor said that after 6 months most doctors like to wait until they are 3.
She said because they need to be put under to do this and younger babies/toddlers dont do well under.

Every doctor is different though.

It best to do it now,as soon as you get the money, maybe you could speeds things up by making the appointment before the money gets in so that everything is ready.Six months is still young, yet. If i were you i would make the arrangements and not worry about it.It's ok,Things will work out.You sound so worried.
Good Luck.

Just make sure you know all the complications and what could go wrong. My brother was about 7 months old when he was circumcised and he got an infection which because we were knowledgable about it could treat it. GOOD LUCK

I dont believe your insurance will cover it because it is an elective surgery...it isnt something that is a life saving surgery. And as for if he will be ok or not...I would say he would be fine. He will probably be in a lil more pain then if you would have down it before...but he will be fine.
