well it is hard to react any other way. unless you polled every black smoker in the united states, you can't honestly make a statement like "preferred by blacks." so it is going to sound racist. i know many white and black people who smoke menthols.

it would desire to be a style determination it is subconscious and can't be defined. i will supply you a history as to why menthol is even extra to cigarettes. Menthol is as a rule a evaluate cough drops, Vick's vapor rub, etc. the rationalization is that menthol produces a variety of a "cooling" sensation and fairly motives your mucous membranes to dilate. In different words, while you're sick, the menthol is used as a decongestant. Now as an additive in cigarettes menthol not basically widens air passages, even though it additionally makes the smoke sense "cooler" and produces a mild numbing effect. this permits the smoker to take larger and deeper drags on the cigarette, which in turn supplies the smoker a bigger buzz.

Health and Human Services [USDHHS], 1998).
Certainly, the tobacco industry has performed its
most blatant targeting for menthol cigarettes over the years in Black communities, with billboards located throughout urban communities, financial support of Black organizations, segmented advertising in various media, and flashy product introductions of so-called ‘‘Black’’ cigarettes such as Uptown and X (Pollay, Lee, & Carter-Whitney, 1992; Robinson & Sutton,1994). Other at-risk communities, including women and youth, have received their share of unwanted
attention from the manufacturers and marketers of menthol cigarette brands, and their stories also are important (Lanyi, 1998).
It is important for researchers to use the Black
experience as a model for understanding the issues involved in the marketing of menthol cigarettes. Yet focusing solely on Black menthol brand smokers to the exclusion of other groups minimizes the experiences of other menthol cigarette smokers and reduces opportunities for meaningful comparisons between
and among population segments.

Have you poled all "blacks" that smoke, or only 10 or 20. I haven't really noticed what they smoke, or even if they do. I'm not sure why you really care what they smoke. It's not going to be the end of the world if the question remains unanswered. You must have a lot of time on your hands.
