Metarazzi claimed that he insulted Zidane in response to Zidane's insult on giving him the shirt after the game. Is that simply a lame excuse? Compare that with insulting someone's sister and family members. And when Zidane was walking away (ignoring the first insult), Metarazzi added to the insult to trigger the head butt. Zidane's comments on Metarazzi getting his shirt after the game could even be seen on the funny side rather than an insult. I say "well butt, Zidane" !

FAIR OFFICIATING PLEASE! Zidane and the Bigot Materazzi should have both gotten a red card for that event. But the problem is MONEY. FIFA CANNOT afford to offend a country where they are hoping to make a lot of money from royalties, sponsorships, etc. If Materazzi were from a country where FIFA would make less money, say Greece or Croatia, the verdict of their investigation would have been released by now and Materazzi would have received such hefty penalties that even Maradona would beg for him. Deaf mutes from several reputable organizations including the BBC have repeated the racist remarks of Materazzi and if FIFA wants to stamp out racism in soccer Materazzi must be severely punished. FIFA touts “ Fair play please”, I want to see “ FAIR OFFICIATING PLEASE”.

Zidane reserve a red card. Not matter what Metarazzi said, he shouldn't have resort to violent, especially at such critical game (World Cup Final)! The act is definitely a red card regardless of whatever reason! He should know that very well.

Materazzi should'nt have said anything.. he should've just kept his mouth shut... cos this isn't Oprah's .....
Zidane was right to head butt him.. If I was In his position ...I would do that myself
The referee should have considered what might have been said before giving the red card

What happened that night is to be expected in a contact sport. It's really no big deal. People get decapitated in wrestling matches and you don't hear about it. Just a short innocuous plug in the internet if your lucky. A head butt? Give me a break.

Metarazzi should have got the only red card instead.
Zidane should have heaadbutt him after the game, maybe in the changing room not once but many times.
