No they are not. Many people keep all of their bonsai plants indoors. A Yahoo search for "indoor bonsai" (include the quotation marks in the search box) yields 92,600 results. If you do the same search, and are willing to spend a little time exploring, I'm sure that you will quickly find the information you seek.

Good luck with your search.

It is best not to keep your bonsai inside - it is a real tree in every sense and as such should be in the elements.

Bonsai are very delicate - perhaps you have over watered or under watered?

One mistake I once made was to have a tree outside near a glass sliding door. When the sun hit the door it got very hot and reflected back on to the tree causing it distress.

Best thing to do is to take your tree to a bonsai nursery if there is one near you and see what the staff there say - it may just be a common ailment

YES
Bonsai means "Tree in pot"
not
"Tree meant to be locked up in doors"

get it out in the sunshine...with Winter coming it may go dormant.

One of the things I do with other peoples sick Bonsais is I plant them in the ground in Spring time for a year...

Don't throw yours away...keep the soil moist...let it out on sunny days...pull a couple of leaves to encourage any dormancy OR growth...

and if it still looks sick come Springtime...maybe planting it outside will help perk it up.

The Bonsai Forum is a good place to ask questions...
I get lots of info from there (BlackOPC)

Good luck

in deference to Warrior who had good advice, all bonsai are NOT outdoor trees!

there are some delicate species of tree that will NOT survive outside, especially if you live in an area with weather extremes. as a matter of fact, some "outdoor" bonsai CAN live quite well indoors IF they get sufficient light and air circulation. some, like junipers, just don't like to be indoors.
