Nintendo is working on a new console called the Wii, coming out very soon (November, I think). The delay of the newest Zelda title is related, but the Wii is not the cause (it's been delayed several times already).
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess will be released in two forms: one will be a GameCube game, and the other will be a Wii game. Both games will be, as far as I know, identical, except for the control scheme used (and the Wii version may be slightly more graphically impresseive, but this is only a guess on my part). The Wii utilizes a very unique contoller which looks somewhat like a television remote and contains a motion sensor. Hand movement translates into movement onscreen. Exactly how TP will control is not known yet. (A more traditionally shaped controller will also be available for purchase, and several different attachments to the standard remote will become available in time).
The good news is, the Wii will be able to play GameCube games as well as Wii games, and Cube controllers can be used for Cube games (and possibly other games). Some other announced features of the Wii are downloadable games from the NES, SNES, N64, Sega Genesis and Turbographix-16 consoles (for a price, of course) and online play. The Nintendo DS may also be able to connect to the Wii, for purposes we can only guess at right now (one rumor suggests it may be possible to download game demos to the DS through the Wii).
Finally, the Wii is suspected to retail for $250 or less.
