I've always been into gaming, although now I am confused. I heard alot of crap about the PS3 and now I am even having second thoughts about both of them. If I WERE to buy a system though, which do you think I should get an Xbox360 or a Playstation3?

That's cute Natalie, but the modern Xbox and Playstation can play DVD's as well. Perhaps you are thinking about the ability to play Blu-Ray disks?

I have always been on sony's bandwagon, and although i do not hate the xbox series, i dont own one. I dont plan on owning one either. I would suggest that you get the PS3 for the simple fact that it is half the price of what a blu-ray player is if only for that fact. Plus, its processing power is much better than the X360. X360 hit the market sooner and so everyone has gotten one. to tell you the truth, im not really impressed with the X360. it is really nothing more than an XBOX with HD outputs and wireless controllers. oh, i forgot. . . you can change the faceplate (whatever). The second point I must make is that Microsoft designs their game consoles like a PC software company would. Sony has been at this quite a bit longer and there are more experienced developers with the SDK's for the PS3 in hand than microsoft could dream of. Yes, microsoft has bribed or bullied some major american production firms to come on board, but all in all you can expect better games to come out of japan anyway.

If you are a hardcore gamer, get the PS3. If you are not a hardcore gamer and just want to have fun on occasion, dont get the 360. it is much too expensive for casual gaming. In this case i would suggest waiting for the nintendo Wii to come out and get that. it has an innovative interface and some very interesting first generation titles to boot.

Since no one has a PS3, no one REALLY knows one way or the other about the system. The 360 is out now and is doing quite well. The Xbox Live service is wonderful as is the Xbox Live Arcade (all sorts of games available for download). The PS3 is supposed to have slightly better hardware, but how much of an improvement will you see or even be able to differentiate from the 360?

IF you can wait, I say wait till both systems are available (the PS3 should be out sometime this fall... we hope) and see for yourself if the PS3 will be worth the extra $200. Game-wise, you just have to see which system has more exclusive games (like Halo or Gran Tourismo) that you want more. Most of the 3rd party games will be available for both. I personally will get it even though I love my 360. I'll buy the PS3 (God and wife willing... perhaps not in that order) for it's Blu-Ray playback.

Whichever you choose I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Xbox 360 has the same games the ps3 will have, and it will have every game that the ps3 will have, because all the developers that used to be exclusice are now on both systems, or xbox exclusive now. Grand Theft Auto will be on both, but it will have exclusive downloadable content on the 360 only. The live experience is simply going to be better on the 360. This will be Sony's first time going online like this and this is MS's 2nd time, and it is a great proven online system. Since you are being force fed blu-ray (which is actually not doing too well, hd-dvd is beating the hell out if it) the game prices are actually are going to be $10-$15 dollars higher on the PS3 than for the 360 for the same game, same graphics, and same gameplay. AND even if you buy the $600 PS3 with the support of 1080p, you will have to go out and buy a hdmi cable that they decided not to include...which will set you back yet another $100. The cheaper PS3 is actually worse than the more expensive one because they are leaving out features in that one (unlike the 2 tiers of 360's, where the only difference is the HDD). Hope that helps.

p.s. The games on the 360 have been alright to date, but now the line-up is looking great to finish off 2006. Gears of War, Rainbow Six: Las Vegas, F.E.A.R., Forza 2, Splinter Cell: Double Agent, and two games that just came out that are amazing are Saint's Row and Dead Rising. The Xbox Live Arcade is also pretty amazing with all the cool arcade titles like Uno and Texas Hole 'Em. The Live Marketplace is also amazing and will get even better as they add more features to it.

the ps3 is $600, the Xbox360 is $300(not $400). both you can use a DVD player. and there are reports coming out that are dising blu-ray ( or how ever you spell it). with a max speed( current) of like 16x you will not be able to pull data off the dvds very fast so you will have long waiting times. but the blu-ray dvds can hold more data. processor wise the ps3 has it but not by alot. money wise ps3 games were talking $65-$75 after the $600 system. from what it looks like you could buy a 360, a Wii and some games for the price of ps3 alone.

i say the 360 cause i have played it and its awsome.

If i had to choose between an Xbox 360 or a Playstation 3, hell yeah i am gonna get a ps3. No doubt about it. Just a few hundred dollars higher than an Xbox 360, so what! But still, must wait for the official word that the ps3 does live up to its hype...

I’m not a huge gamer, but I like a good evening of video game vegging once in a while. If I were you, I’d go with the PS3. I’ve not heard anything about it, but I’ve not really been looking. I say PS3 because just about every X-Box game I’ve seen is pretty lame. Halo gives me motion sickness, and that’s the only X-Box exclusive that people seem to kick up a stink about; most of the other games X-Box has seems to be available on other systems as well. I’ve heard both X-Box and X-Box360 are pretty much the same, anyway, but I don’t know for sure. So, unless you’re a hardcore Halo player, I’d go for the PS3. But, it’s entirely up to you. I’ve thrown in my two cents.

If you're gonna spend the $500 on the 360, you might as well spend another $100 on the PS3 instead, because it's a far superior system. The technology inside blows the 360 out of the water, and anyone who tells you otherwise doesn't know what they're talking about.
