What is this noise? I hate it!

The elements within the lamp are in harmonic frequency with the pulse of the a/c current. It creates a "tuned" sound. Flourescent bulbs can make a noise even though they don't have an element because the transformers make noise.

Try D.C. lighting or candles.

most of the answers you got are pretty good, but bullnipple(s) answer and pic and all, are strange!!! but that's just me......just had to say, nothing against bullnipple tho...as in some of my answers to other quesions, I said we should accept others differences.....was just reviewing again a few of the answers I have given...I see bullnipple took his answer off here.....hmmm

Could be the light bulbs.

u need to choke for that , it might be because of the high tension

check your ballast.. and change it
