first, love and be confident of yourself. to have more topics to talk with others , read... current affairs / fashion /cars.. anything that keeps you updated so that you can join in or start a conversation without much problem.... Start a hobby and you can create a portfolio for yourself , so that you have something to say when describing or intro-ing yourself .... Also , be senstitive while talking to others. Dun cross over to their privacy.

in a new school or anywhere, to make friends is to be one yourself. I am sure you dont want indiscriminate pals, but people with whom you can share your thoughts, and living styles.
Join clubs, or if have a hobby start one yourself. You will find that like minded people will always come together.
