It can't be done without harming the bluegrass. Bermuda spreads underground by sending out stolons. You can try to dig the Bermuda out and re-sod, but if you miss so much as one stolon you will have to begin the process anew at some point in the future. Good luck. Unless you want a Bermuda grass lawn though that is your only choice as the Bermuda will spread and choke the bluegrass out.

There's a product available to homeowners that can be used to control Bermuda grass growing in Kentucky Bluegrass lawns. It's called "TURFLON ESTER" and it's available either at some of your local hardware stores or online.

The active ingredient in Turflon is "Triclopyr" and it's sold as "Brush Killer" or in Ortho's product called "Poison Ivy Control". I'd recommend you purchase the "Turflon Ester" and follow the directions.

From my past experiences, you'll have to do a series of multiple spray applications to eradicate the Bermuda grass but it's going to be much cheaper and less labor intensive than re-planting or re-sodding.

Hope it works out for you! GOOD LUCK!
