It is very sad that he passed away. But at least he died while doing what he loved. All of his friends said that's how he would have wanted to go. It's also been said that he wanted his death to be caught on camera, which it was. I think that it will help his loved ones, knowing he went out while doing what he loved best. He will be missed, may he rest in peace.

A stingray put a barb through his heart. Metaphysically everyone is going to die. If you keep sticking you face into the animals and irritating them you will die sooner. I thought that Irwin was a hell of a guy but did you ever wonder how the animals he tormented felt. If I was a croc or snake I would have loved to have his head over my mantle.

The good Lord has something else for him to do, up there with Him. It is a tragedy that he had to go that way but it is what the Lord had planned for Steve from the beginning. He will be missed deeply. Rest in Peace Steve!

it's nobody's fault that he died, i guess it was just fate. It's so ironic that he died from a stingray barb rather then that of a crocodile attack. It's a real shame beacuse he was an icon all around the world and so many people loved what he did.
He is a great loss to everyone who liked him.

Well, maybe his death had a message in it. Steve was constantly touting the message " you can die if you don't respect these animals", and the bizarre fact that he died from an animal one usually doesn't die from pushes that message home, don't you think?

He was a cool guy, & he died the way he lived; on the "edge" & loving what he did. We're all going to "go"- someway...some day... And Steve went the way He would've wanted. We should ALL be so lucky- & so loved.

I believe that no matter how unfair we humans all think it is,
that God had a plan and He needed a new angel...
I have been grieving for 2 days because I loved him and his work...
There is not another like him...
I will miss him always...

I'll say this for him:

He's been on more adventures than all of us answering this question combined!

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, close friends, and associates....

We'll miss you, Steve!

While he was taking the movie, he dived into the water. At that time, one of the very big spines of a huge fish insert into his chest. OHHH, so sad.

Thanks for all the memories, Steve! If he'd been alive he would've said, "Awww, mate, it wasn't the stingray's fault, he was just trying to defend himself. Remember never to attempt what I did, it's stew-pid. I do this so I could create awareness....". Such a gentleman. RIP.
