Yes. It is about 270 miles off the coast of LA. 15 billion plus barrels of oil and gas. It will take about 10 years to get it up and running. IF the geko freeks do not stop it!

Thats great, to bad it won't help the gas prices at the pump. Anyone have a source link for this? Also, keep in mind, there IS a limited amount of oil, just because we found more, doesn't mean that the evitable will occur, what we need is efficent reunable source to use. Instead of passing this problem on to our children, we should be responsible and fix it now.

It won't increase our production by 50%; it will increase our strategic petroleum reserves by 50%.
The U.S. uses 20 million barrels of oil a day. If we were to depend totally on the projected output of this discovery (50 billion barrels), it would last a little over nine years.

I thought it was ironic because my 8 year old came home from school and said that we were running out of oil in the US.I told her that we have plenty of oil still left in the earth that hasn't been tapped into. Then there was the news flash 20 minutes later.
