Severe punishment yes.
Death? Absolutely not.
What happened to justice? Justice should be fair and if possible, poetic.
For instance: In the case of the woman who drowned her children in the bathtub. Why should we not hold her accountable? Should we do so, wouldn't it be a better punishment to drown HER in the bathtub rather than a chair or an injection?
The definition of a pedophile needs to be clearly defined as well and justice served for those who violate the law. Yet, at the same time, the law in my opinion should be changed as well.
A consenting minor of sixteen in my opinion is somewhat different than a forced minor of sixteen. I hardly think it's justice if the offending adult receives prison time and a consenting minor gets grounded for two weeks. That's not justice- either the man gets a two-week home arrest or the consenting minor receives a prison sentence. If we can try a minor as an adult under the arguement that the minor is capable of knowing right or wrong when the minor commits a crime the same principles should apply in the case of statutory rape.
As for forcible rape, wouldn't it be justice if the offending adult were to be raped or violated themselves rather than receiving a simple prison sentence?
There are many different things to take into consideration as well though, I find it difficult to believe that a person's entire life can be centered around the fact that someone played with their little pp at the age of 5. That's just ridiculous.
I also refuse to believe the excuse of many pedophiles that they were abused as children themselves and use it as an excuse to abuse little children. I was horribly beaten by my stepfather as a child and feel no desire to stalk the neighborhood kids and beat them up. If the experience was really so terrible, by what logic would you want somebody else to feel that way? I call bullshit and I called it first.
The point is, more than one thing has to be taken into consideration here- we shouldn't apply a law like that for no other reason than the harshness as opposed to the crime is not justice. If, in fact, being molested causes a person to suffer for a lifetime what sense would it make to end the life of the person responsible for that suffering? Wouldn't it be more just if the world class piece of **** responsible for that suffering were made to suffer as the victim?

What's a paedophile? Look it up before you start ranting about it.
To answer the question you thought you asked: Should child molesters receive the death penalty?
No. For one thing, just how do you define the crime? There are too many variables - the conditions, the amount of force involved if any, the attitude of the alleged victim, the ages of the people involved - for anything to be specified. And if you _do_ define something, there will be cases that are only just outside the definition but virtually identical to cases inside it. It's totally impractical.
And another thing: if you have the ultimate penalty for what is plainly not the ultimate crime, what will you do if something serious happens? And supposing you get the - very rare - case of someone who forces himself on a child. What incentive will he have not to kill the victim - or any witnesses - to avoid identification? Once he's done the deed, he will have nothing to lose.
Not a single child will be protected by such a law. Quite a few could be killed, though.

I don't agree with you first statement. Child molesters will molest no matter what. But I'm just like that. Actually, yes. If they fear going to their death more than molesting, it might do it. The only reason they don't go immediately to their death is because it costs the state money, more so than life in prison, as in the tax payers will suffer. I assume.
That just sucks doesn't it?
BTW, God does not hate those whose hands shed blood, He hates those whose hands shed innocent blood.
Also, the only I think that they could be released back into society is when they undergo severe mental trauma and torture such as have inflicted on innocent children. They can NEVER be 'normal' they CAN'T be changed. They don't deserve death without retribution.

Joni B's answer would be the most torturous punishment for them. But I agree that they should get the death penalty, and from what I understand of the local prison system, pedophiles are like the worst of the worst and prison life is a living h3ll for them.

Death is not punishment enough. A world of pain for the victims, why should the pedophiles get an easy way out.

In the state I live in there is a law that if someone is convicted of a sex crime against a child more than once, the death penalty can be imposed. Just what they deserve!

I think the death penalty is too good for them. They should have to endure and suffer as much or more pain as those poor children suffered. I say torture those a..holes first, then give them the death penalty. Heck, I would like to be the one to punish them.
