they are just a bunch of exaggerating idiots.

i hate it when a non-smoker passed rude remarks at me when i light up. n all those stupid hand gestures like flapping their arms wildly to get rid of the smoke smell n scrunching up their noses at us.

we smokers are considerate people. i dont smoke in a crowd. i am considerate enough to find an isolated corner to smoke. but all these idiots will only get closer to me.

n save ur breath about telling us that smoking will kill us and all that other health craps ok. all of us KNEW smoking will kill us eventually when we picked up our first ciggs!

but we CHOOSE to smoke. it's OUR life. so bug off.

I'm a non-smoker and I'm not rude to those that do.
However, cigarette smoke gives me an upset stomach and I'm not afraid to ask, so I do sometimes ask someone to put out their cig if we're in a place where I can't immediately move away from them. I always explain my situation and they usually comply. If they don't want to, I don't hold it against them, I just find a way to filter the smoke, like putting my shirt collar over my nose until they're done.
We were at the drive-in the other night and there was a couple smoking every 10 minutes and they flat out said "No" when I asked them to please move downwind from me until they finished. So I just moved my car even though we were there first. Of course I said something to the effect of "Thanks for Nothing, Chump!", but I ended up moving anyway.
Why are smokers so rude? : )

Well I am a non smoker who is very sensitive to the smell, but I am married to a smoker, and we have no problems with it. He doesn't smoke in the house or when we are in the car together, and when we go places I do not mind waiting away from him so he can have a cigarette. I think that non-smokers need to realize that there are much more important things to worry about, and smokers need to ignore the b.s. they are getting, have a cigarette, and calm dowm.

Smokers can be pretty rude too, just ask anyone at the restaurant we went to last Saturday night.
What a fit that person had!.. and threatening the family who just asked them to move downwind was really uncalled for! Those poor kids were shaking in their boots after it all.

Not all of us are rude, but, we cannot escape 2nd hand smoke, the smell, the stopped up noses, or the long term affects. When you light up, it is much much more than your own life and health you affect.

My Mom is one of the rudest non-smokers I know--out right embarassing to be around. I try not to be so at all, but expect my smoking friends to sit with me in the non-smoking section of a restaurant and go to the bar or outside to smoke because I find it difficult to enjoy my food with all that smell in the air.

When I was 5 years old I watched my step-father take his last breath after his aorta burst because he had very advanced lung cancer by the time they found it. I've never smoked, but I try not to be obnoxious about it either...

I don't care if you smoke. I would just prefer it doesn't happen around me. I have always been wary of smokers because my brother has very severe asthma, so I always had to steer him away.

yeah...that really deserved a thumbs down. can't wait to check back tomorrow and see the answer that you choose which will completely agree with your opinion. what's the point of even asking this question?

If you're talking about the ones who post their rude opinions on the Answers page, the answer is that it's a cheap and easy way for them to feel superior.

If they're being rude because you're being rude with your smoking, then they're reacting like any normal person would.

Seriously, why do people smoke in a car with their kids? Smoking... Smokers need to get a hobby which does not involve other people's lungs. If you want to greatly increase your chances of winning the lung cancer lottery go ahead... Just don't give me any free tickets... Thanks

You can smoke anywhere in the world except in my presence, which is 99.9999% of the land, and you call yourself "oppressed". I'd tell you to get a grip, but you need to get a clue, first.

You are a perfect example of why we need to legalize the immolation of smokers (by pouring gasoline) who smoke in the presence of non-smokers. The only reason I advocate keeping immolation illegal is that the person throwing the gasoline could be hurt and I don't want to see non-smokers injured.
