I work in a hospital drawing blood, I don't understand why so many people are afraid of the little tiny needles we use! It doesn't hurt near as much as getting a tattoo or for as long. I just dont get it.

i have tattoos and it diesnt bother me one bit to get my blood drawn, but when im at work (i'm a lab assistant) and i come near someone with that tiny little needle they freak out! i think tattoos hurt way more, and it takes less time to draw your blood than to get a tattoo. i'm not talking about donating blood, just your average blood draw at the dr. office. i dont get it!

Well I have 15 tattoos and over the last few years I have had my blood drawn a number of times... and I don't like having my blood drawn one bit.. lol I dont know why really...I know part of it for me was having a few experiences with people sticking me a number of times before they got the needle in... and its probably the fact that when someone goes to get a tattoo... they want it done.... no one wants their blood drawn...lol

As a person with a tattoo, i can say that the sensation of getting a tattoo is totally different to drawing blood. But i must add that as a person with a tattoo, i also don't mind getting needles...i can handle pain quite well but other people are sensitive to some forms of pain but not others. then again, i have seen big burley men crying while getting a tattoo too!

Don't listen to anyone telling you to take any pills to calm yourself down. This could throw the tests off for all you know. Don't look at the needle when they are preparing it and actually drawing the blood. I have a lot of piercings and I get blood tests a few times a year and I've got to say getting pierced is above the pain from a needle...and honestly pain doesn't bother me in the least. If you can handle getting pierced you should be fine. I'm hoping you know that tattoo guns have tiny needles that repeatedly enter the skin and sometimes a shader needle can have 14 miniature needles going at once over one small area of skin...

because getting a tattoo feels like someone is drawing on ou with a pen and getting blood drawn sticks a needle deep enough to make blood squirt all over the room and you die.

I donated blood once and the stuck and stuck the needle trying to find the vein...never ever ever again.

for me personally, its the peircing of the skin and veins that gets me. i have several tattoos, and i agree that it hurts alot worse than getting blood drawn. but a tattoo only goes a few layers down. a needle used to draw blood goes all the way into the body. maybe thats why its so scary.

you arent supposed to give blood after you get a tattoo for a long time either. Im not fond of giving blood and have a tattoo. a tattoo doesnt involve blood. well it shouldnt bleed if done properly. If I see my blood going into the tubes i get light headed and stupid i have no clue why but if i look the other way im fine.

Its all mental. When getting a tattoo you dont stare into a tude filling up with your blood.
