"Deputy" and "vice-president" are two organizational positions which are sometimes used interchangeably and that's why I am getting confused with them. What to do? Could anyone help me?

A "deputy" acts as a replacement or substitute when the "chief" is gone, on vacation or in a travel status. He/she is acting as if he/she is in charge during the absense of the director. A vice-president is an official position and this person would replace the president if the president dies or is incapable of performing his duties.

It depends on the company's structure and history.
Some like to use VP, some like to use Deputy instead of Junior or Assisant.
A Deputy is an assistant, but isn't in charge. Like a Deputy Sherrif.
Director, Deputy Director...
