I'll describe it the best I can:
Put the contact on the index finger of your right hand (or left, if you're a lefty, but most people are righties so I'll explain it this way). Place the middle finger of your right hand under your eye so your bottom eyelid can't move. With the index finger of your left hand, hold your top eyelid open. Then look to the side or stare off into space while reaching forward with your right index finger and placing the contact in your eye. (Just don't look directly at the finger coming at you!) Then move your eye until the contact is centered over it. Voila.
Don't go sticking your fingers on your pupils, for one thing, that's a great way to get bacteria in your eyes. For another, the colored part of your eye is a lot more sensitive to touch than the white, which is why it may work best for you to look to the side, place the contact on the white of your eye then move the colored part underneath it to "catch" the contact.

If your eyes are tired, your lenses will irritate you. Have a good nights sleep, then when you are ready, wash your hands and then proceed to put your lenses on.
Always stick to the same order, right eye then left eye or vice versa. Make sure you have the lense the right way round. If it's a semi circle its the correct side, if you see a sort of wiggly silhouette, in the sense that its a semicircle with edges curving outwards its the wrong side.
With patience and practice you'll be okay. Carry refreshing drops with you so you can moisten your eyes from time to time. Dryness will also irritate your eyes.

The only way to get used to contacts is to keep on putting them in and taking them out. Over time, you get used to it. I've been wearing contacts for a LONG time now....almost 30 years, and I can honestly do it without even looking in the mirror. My daughter's been wearing them for about 4, and while she has no problem putting them in, she still needs a mirror and all to do it. I freak her out when I show her how I can do it w/o one. LOL It is harder though to put them in when you're already tired.

your problem is simply that you blink too much. if you blink while putting it in, its gonna curl up and its not gonna go into your eye.. you need to open your eye with two fingers, with the contact on your pointer, and just for that 2to3 secs, dont blink and place the contact in your eye.
