This sounds like Sleep Apnea, It is caused by a delayed reaction in the brain when your baby actually forgets or at least her brain forgets to breathe, I was a daycare provider for many years and cared for a little baby with this condition, She had a very severe case and would not awake by herself, this can happen in the worst of cases, and the child needs to be put on a sleep Apnea monitor, this will alert you the parent of when the child stops breathing and sounds a alarm you must then flick the bottom of her feet and or hands until she takes a breath, They do however grow out of this as there brain eventually begins communicating better as they grow and it will just stop on its own in most cases, I reccomend having her seen immediatly though as the symptoms can worsen, or better very quickly! You do not want to sleep with this horrible thought in your head good luck!

Take that baby to a doctor...first thing in the morning. Get a monitor for the baby to monitor.

SLeep apnea could be part of the SIDS syndrome.

Sleep Apnea: sudden stopping of breath in ones sleep.

Adults wake automatically, restarting their breathing.
Some babies do not.
Then it's called "Crib Death" or "Sudden Infant Death Syndrome".

Emergency room, next time it happens.
They can die up to a year old.
Don't chance it. Go.

Chances are it is sleep apnea, take her to the Dr tomorrow and get it taken care of. It can be very serious and sometimes it is only mild, but it is not worth risking if it is serious, the Dr might suggest breathing treatments to help. Good luck

exactly ^ sounds like sleep apnea... Def. keep an eye on this child.. did it recently have its vaccinations? most SIDS are blamed on sleep apnea... sleep with your baby, and if you sense the child isn't breathing give it a little shake to remind it.... also, if yuo find the condition serious enough, go see a Dr.

I do the same thing. I have sleep apnea. Make an appointment immediatly with a sleep specialist. Your daughter can die in her sleep from this. Not to scare you, but you need to have her checked out immediatly.

I agree with Rachael....sleep apnea...and it can cause sudden infant death.
Have the baby sleep with you.

I had it when I was a baby and my mother said I used to turn blue.

talk to a doctor, it sounds like sleep apnea. I have it and I have woke myself up doing that same very thing. Sleep apnea is deadly. But there are machines to wear when one is sleeping to prevent one from stop breathing permanantly. My mom had it as a child also. PLEASE SEE A DOCTOR.
