I take a daily birth control pill and I have been taking it consistantly for 5 years without missing a pill.

I take three packs of birth control, then have my period, and then start another three packs and so on.

I am on my third pack and am on my second week of pills.

This entire week I feel like I am having cramps, and today I noticed I having some spotting like I usually do before I have my period.

I haven't missed any pills, and I haven't been sick.

I have unprotected sex a lot with my husband and I took a HPT today and it came out negative.

I have never been pregnant before and I am in my mid 20's.

I haven't change my birth control pill type, so what's wrong with me?

It may be that your body isn't responding to the pills like it used to. I had this problem after using the same kind for several years--all of a sudden they didn't work the way they used to--I was spotting and getting a period way too early in my cycle-- and I had to change pills. Spotting is a side effect of taking the pill--even if it never happened to you before. I would keep taking your pills, see what happens next month. If the same thing happens, call your doctor and let him/her know about it. They may have you change pills.

Until then, I would have protected sex if you don't want to get pregnant just in case there is an actualy problem with the pills. If you are concerned that you may be pregnant--wait a few days or up to a week and take another pregnancy test. If you are indeed pregnant, your body has to build up enough of the pregnancy hormone for the test to detect.

Good luck!!

well so you have 4 periods a year? I take seasonale which does the same thing (ive been on it for almost 2 years now) end it seems like after a month or two i get cramps and sometimes spot. this could be the birth control pills but you can also be pregnant. maybe you should go the doctor just to make sure whats up. get a blood test done to determine whether or not your pregnant. Do you take them ontime every day? if you dont then there is a decreased in effectiveness with the pill/

so this can be your birth control pill or you may be pregnant since you say you've been having unprotected sex ALOT =)

the pills are not always 100% effective. so use a condom if you do not want to have a child

if you do end up pregnant congradulations

good luck =)

If you take any kinds of medications besides your birth control pills, it could effect the way they work. For example, if you ever used an antibiotic for anything while on the pill, the pills effectiveness is lower and therefor you could become pregnant. If you missed a period or you think something isn't right, you should see your doctor right away. Birth control pills aren't 100% effective. There's also the possibility that maybe there was something defective with your pills. But you should see your doctor right away.

Birth control pills are not intended to be taken for more than 2 or 3 years at a time and them you need a minimum of 6 months off of them to allow your system to reset. Talk to your doctor about it.Also think about how many times your time of the month has changed since it started. Is it posible that maybe your cycle has just altered it self a bit. Regardless it makes alot more sence to go to your doctor or a different doctor for advise rather than expecting there to be anyone with any real knowlage or anyone who even cares on here at 1am on a week night.

There's nothing "wrong" with your pills...NO birth control method is 100% effective...Don't you ready any of the inserts that come with your pills. ANYTIME you have unprotected sex you CAN get pregnant whether you are on the pill or not. The pill only "lessens" the chances...it doesn't eliminate them alltogether. Yeah you COULD very well be pregnant.

there is lots of women who can get pregnant who is on birth control but you can have something else wrong. Instead of checking with the pregnant test at home (because 1/2 of the time they are wrong) go to a doctor and see whats wrong with you. Maybe you are pregnant. If you are, Congratulations.

Your body could just be changing from adolecent to adult... try asking your doctor for a lower hormone level pill. You never know unless you try
