I'm from CA, so I would imagine that October in New York is way different. I've never been, so I'm curious what I should bring as far as clothes go. Will I need a heavy jacket at that time of the year? I'll be in New York in late October, if that makes any difference. Thanks so much for your help!

Late October,,,,yea it will be chilly. Bring sweaters, turtlenecks, jackets. NY weather is as crazy as the city so one day it might be really cold and the next day it might be warm. You can go to weather.com and type in New York City (or the exact location of where ur going) and it will tell you the average degrees by month. But it will most likely be chilly, so sweaters & jackets.

On weather.com is says the average is 63-58 degrees Fahrenheit, just so you have an idea.

It'll be around 50-55 degrees during the daytime and probably 45-50 at night. Therefore you should probably bring a fairly warm jacket, but not too heavy especially if you are walking around. Imagine some of the coldest days in CA and dress appropriately for that.

Bring a sweater and a light jacket, not a heavy jacket.

Layers. And it may be a little rainy, so you may want to take a coat that will repell water, (check weather first!). Think SoCal during rainy season ... Nice during the day, but cooler at night.
