Ok - no flames for this one, but I am now hooked on the BBCs "Dr. Who"....but only the new version. I was never a fan of the old doctors (from our childhood), but the new version is pretty good.

Quantum Leap is a good show, but it's more about drama than sci-fi. If you're okay with that, I would suggest it.
You might like Sliders, also. It's not time travel (they "slide" between alternate dimensions), but it's similar in feel.

I heard there was this show on BBC about a cop who ends up in the 70's for some reason. He knows he's in the 70's but know one else knows he from the future and he's trying to get back to the future somehow. I forgot what it's called because I only read about it and I don't have BBC America. Sucks to be me.

Try the movie "the final countdown" where a modern aircraft carrier passes thru a portal and winds up popping out right before the attack on pearl harbor - its a great movie.
