do you have the pop marks like chicken pox or if it's just scars like the discoloration. if it's the discoloration, get an exfoliating face scrub like Pore me or st. ives. what it will do is take the dead skin away and your face will keep regenerating new skin if you will.

Right now my skin is perfectly clear, for the first time in 3 years. It's been about 9 weeks and all my acne is gone. It is such a great feeling to wake up with clear skin.

acne marks take a long time to fade completely, but you can try any of the following to speed up the process: 1. use a vitamin E oil. you could ask any pharmacist for a bottle, you get them specially formulated for this very purpose. 2. honey, although i'd suggest you use this alongside anything else you're using, and don't depend on this entirely. 3. mederma, this works miracles for some ppl, but is pretty useless for others. 4. laser treatment, but only if the scars are really deep. 5. drink LOTS of water to keep your system cool, maybe that'll help the angry redness die down! (plus it keeps fresh pimples at bay)

Types Of Acne Scars

Acne scars are of two types:
1. Scars that are formed by loss of tissue are called depressed scars.
2. Scars caused by increased tissue formation are called hypertrophic scars or keloids.

Note that every person has a different tendency of scar formation. Some people develop less scars, while others may have major scars for the same type of acne.

Depressed Scars:
You see these kinds of scars when skin loses mass below the healed area. that depresses the skin. These scars may be of different types such as ice-pick scars, depressed fibrotic scars, soft scars and macular types. During the course of acne, as the cyst expands with pus, bacteria, oil and dead skin cells, it ruptures and infects the dermis. To protect the dermis, the white blood cells rush in. This rupture may cause loss of collagen giving rise to deep recess or depression. The skin above is left unsupported because of loss of tissue below it and a saucer shaped or jagged ice-pick scar is formed. Ice-pick scars are more common on the face.

Keloids:
In some people, scars form in a reverse fashion. With loss of collagen as explained above, the body triggers fibroblasts that produce excessive collagen to replace the loss. This produces scar tissues called keloids. Keloids are more commonly found on male torsos. Other type of increased tissue formation scar is called hypertrophic scar. Hypertrophy means overgrowth.
