I was at my Dr.'s office, got weighed, then had this "out of it" feeling. All I saw was the # on the scale 102 . I looked up & saw the nurse, she was talking to me but she was a blur & I couldn't understand her (like she was speaking German or...) She asked if I was ok, but I couldn't form a sentence. She put me in a room & the Dr came in. I told him why I was there. Then I told him about the "episode" & he blew it off, wrote me a script for steroids & left. I was still confused & forgot which hall led out. I was ok when I left & went to the pharmacy & shopping. I don't drink, smoke, or use drugs. What could've caused it? No stupid comments please.

The steroids were for a sinus infection. Not weight. 102 is fat to me. No I didn't eat before or after, I had 8oz of Dasani.

Yes i have had these episodes. The MDs tell me it can be one of a few things. You say you got steroids so you obviously have some health issues already.

Causes can be:
1. Stress or anxiety. Makes your heart go too fast and then the blood doesn't get to your head as efficiently making you feel faint.
(by the way 'white coat syndrome' is real...seeing an MD can make you very anxious inside).

2. Low blood sugar. Did you eat before going to the MD?

3. Dehydration. Not drinking sufficient water can make you lightheaded.

4. Prescription drugs side effects. Many medications can alter your blood pressure and pulse. The fainting feeling comes when your pulse doesn't keep your blood pressure up to the matching level....usually the system resets itself and off you go feeling ok afterwards.

5. Sometimes this can happen if you are severely constipated. Again hydration will help keep your bowels moving.

6. Moving too fast from sitting to standing can do it as well. This is called orthostatic hypotension.

Doctors 'blow it off' because it isn't 'serious' to them. But, I know if feels awful when it happens.

Good luck.

First of all Im sorry you are not feeling well, and sorry your doctor will not listen to you.
I've had many episodes like you describe, there are many things that can cause this.

Here is a few but the list is not exhaustive

1.)Hypoglyemia,if its been a few hours since your last meal,or
if your insulin levels somehow plummet hypoglycemia can cause
out of body experiences, blurry vision, and feeling totally out of it.

2.)Vertigo if you are also feeling dizzy you could have an inner ear infection triggering dizziness.

3.) an allergy to something in the doctors office or something you ate,can cause you to space out, blurry vision and dizziness.

4.)Anxiety or panic attacks can give you a drop in blood pressure which can bring on an episode of spaciness, dizziness and blurry vision.

5.) neurological problems, toxic building syndrome, candida or many other things can cause this as well.

If you continue to have these problems you may need to do a little detective work to narrow down the cause and see a specialist who can help..

your doctor more then likely figured you had some inflammation somewhere or vertigo and gave you steriods to help control that inflammation.
