Right click on the 2 little pc's on your task bar and when the menu comes up select "application settings." Down at the bottom you can type in the address of your home page.

ps. You can also go to "tools""internet options" "general" and right at the top of the page you can type in your home page address.

if i wer u i wouldnt even hav bought a compaq 2 begin with, seriously wen r people going 2 understand that hp compaq is just a pain in the @$$? anyway about ur problem try scanning ur pc for adware spyware or viruses first if u dont find any then its probably just that they dont want u 2 change the homepage they just want 2 keep it set to the hp compaq website or something (typical) in wich case id suggest getting another web browser i would highly recommend mozilla firefox (www.getfirefox.com) besides integrated pop up blocking u cn also download various extensions and themes for it.

Right click Internet Explorer, and select Properties. Under the General tab, there should be a little spot to put in what you want for a homepage. For instance, if you want Yahoo for a homepage, just put http://www.yahoo.com/ in that little area.
