The term African American it IS suitable for black people born in Canada.

In early days in New England the people who tried to bring Black slaves there noticed that the slaves died of Pneumonia at a rate equal to 3 to 4 times that of whites. So it was actually a business decision. This may also suggest that the natural adaptations by each racial group may limit the locales where they naturally survive the best or where they feel comforable. In addition, the types of crops used in the Great Plains are dissimilar to African crops and procedures, so none of the Blacks at that time would have had experience with them. End of story.

There is; I used to live in Winnipeg and there is a black community there, albeit small. I'm sure other prairie cities are the same. John Ware was an escaped slave who became the first black resident and a well known rancher in Alberta. However the only black communites in Canada with a long history are in Ontario and Nova Scotia.

It's because the black man was imported like animals to cultivate the plantations of the Southern United States by THE WHITE MAN. We are only 140 years out of bondage. Give us some time, we are spreading like wildfire.

WE ARE COMING.

In the blink of a historical eye, our goal is to turn Canada black. It will start with a few generations of tans, then browns. Eventually Canada will be coal black.

Wouldn't they be African Canadian, not African American?

Also, the fur trade did not utilize slave labor. Kind of hard to go to Africa kidnap and enslave tribesmen, take them to the frozen north, teach them to trap, then set them loose with a sled and team of huskies and hope they come back with a sled full of furs. A LOT different than running a cotton plantation, don't you think?

Your additional post to your question is WRONG WRONG WRONG! Try calling Canadians Americans and see what happens to you? By your line of reasoning Mexicans should be called Americans? Oh wait, I almost forgot, they are all here now anyway.

Christ you're a moron. If you insist on calling black people "African Americans" at least have the deceny to understand that they are only called that if they are residents of the United States. DUH!?

Canada has very few black people because they did not participate in the slave trades that initially brought them to this continent in the first place.

Because they don't go there?

Maybe there are racist people in that area. And im sure there are some black people in that area.

Also if it's in canada, they wouldn't be african AMERICAN.

This is a stupid question. Wouldn't they be African-Canadians or most correctly Canadians since most were not born in Africa.
