well, i have both systems, so lemme give this a go...
the ds lite is smaller, not just smaller by length and width, but also height. instead of being the awkward shape that the ds is in, the lite is more of a rectangle, and closes exactly in half. the ds closes and the top half is kinda trapezoidal, doesn't feel right in your pocket. however, i would not advise putting it in your pocket anyway, because you never know what might hit you in the leg or something
the ds lite is brighter, IF you choose it to be. there are brightness options. personally, i have my lite set a little dimmer, i don't need to stare at a light bulb in order to see.
the lite has a thicker stylus, much easier to hold
the lite has the start, select, and power buttons in much better places, so it feels like you're holding a regular controller, instead of on the regular ds, where they are in odd places.
