Depends, if it is suffering, take it to the vet and have it put to sleep. I've had mice and rats before, and have had to do that. If it is a wild mouse, then I agree... set it free if it isn't in pain or anything. If it is a baby wild mouse, you can call your local animal shelter and they will get you in contact with a wildlife foundation that may help, I have done that with injured birds before.

Listen, its a tough decision. Let it go. If it has to die, let it die free.
Would you want to die in a prison. Every chaged animal just wants to go free. It is their heaven. Let the mouse go to heaven on its own terms. If it dies, it will die happy. I let our mouse go. After a day I never saw it again, but seeing it frolick around the yard was a hoot.

check and make sure that it's getting the right diet and that it's getting plenty of water. they do not like too much light and they like toilet paper rolls to chew up into bedding. Most of the time they are night creatures. No cheese!!!!

It's a mouse, recycle it. Don't let it go to total waste if you can't save it. Feed it to a snake or owl.
