I just bought a 1997 Acura Cl. Its a beautiful car. I had a stereo system installed (at the price of 1200$). It runs great with absolutely no problems. Until about three days ago, when i noticed it started over heating when I pull up to a red light, or have to idle for a short period of time. I put water in the radiator yesterday. It was low on water, but nothing severe. If someone could give me their insight, I would truly appriciate it! 3.0 Liter engine...

If this just suddenly began, It is likely that the radiator cooling fan has failed for some reason,
TRY THIS---->
Start the little car, and let it idle. Stand in front of it. Ask a friend to turn the A/C on to MAX. listen closely; do you hear a fan come on when the A/C was turned on?
If you didn't, chances are that either the fan motor(s) has(have) failed, or the relay for it has. There could be a cooling fan fuse failure as well.
If the fan does come on, look for a coolant temp switch that controls the fan circuit.

1. Plugged external radiator coils. Blow air/water from the engine side to the outside. 2. Corrosion inside of radiator, add some radiator cleaner, run, drain, add fresh anti freeze in proper mixture 50/50. 3. If you have an electric fan as opposed to fan belt driven fan see if one or both are working, or if the thermostat is turning it on at the proper time and temp.. or the worst case scenario, you have a head gasket leaking. Usually white vapor from the exhaust is a good sign that your head gasket is leaking water into the cylinder. If this is the case get ready to pay thru the nose unless you have a friend that is a mechanic.

Sounds like a plugged radiator. It is not flowing well at idle, low pressure. When you speed up it moves more water so temp goes back down. To check with the car warm, not hot so the fan will not come on, run you re hand over the radiator if it feels warmer, or colder in spots it could be plugged.

You don't want to hear this but it could be any # of things. From the thermostat, to a head gasket. It could even be a radiator hose that has collapsed. Check your hoses with the car running and with out.

CHECK FOR SMALL LEAKS IN YOUR RADIATOR HOSES. CHECK THAT THE RADIATOR CAP IS ON TIGHT. IF THAT DOESN'T HELP, GO TO AN AUTO PARTS STORE AND HAVE THEM CHECK THE CAP TO MAKE SURE THE PRESSURE SPRING ON IT IS STILL HOLDING PROPER PRESSURE. THEN CHECK TO MAKE SURE THAT WHILE THE RADIO WAS BEING INSTALLED THAT THEY DIDN'T MESS UP THE WIRING GOING TO THE ELECTRIC COOLING FAN. THE FAN RUNS AIR THROUGH THE RADIATOR TO COOL THE WATER AND ANTIFREEZE IN IT. GOOD LUCK !!

particular upload water for now to get to the mechanic, not greater that 10 min force from a chilly initiate. verify you oil and upload it to the mentioned line. sounds like it overheated on account which you have a leak and lost your coolant. make advantageous once you initiate it to pass to the mechanic that this is from a chilly initiate with fluids complete, no greater suitable than 10min force. heavily. you do no longer choose for greater suitable injury.

Don't use water. Use coolant/antifreeze.
Make sure there are no cracks on the radiator and that the fans are working properly.
Check your fluids periodically.

Not sure, but make sure that your car doesn't overheat, cause I think it can crack the engine or something terrible that cost a lot to fix.
