As any NASCAR fan should know only two men had ever achieved 7 championship cups. Dale Earnhardt Sr, Richard Petty. So do you think with the way the competition is now days that anyone will ever win 8 championships? And don't mention Jeff Gordon cause hes not as good as he used to be back in the 90s. I don't think he will ever win another championship cup. Btw im a Jr fan.

No, it is far too competitive to be dominated by anyone. And Gordon is done.

Well, I am a Gordon fan, but I honestly don't think he is going to do it. The competition is pretty intense now a days, and he's hinted that he might not be racing until he's 50 like some driver's do.
A lot of people forget that Petty and Earnhardt dominated in their day. There are a lot of driver's who put down the numbers now.

With that being said.. You're dislike for Gordon is kind of ridiculous (don't even mention him.. why.. b/c you dont' want to admit that it's pretty much the only possibility out there in the forseeable future??) Sure, he's probably not as sharp as he was when he won the other 4, however, he's also adjusting to new rules, new team and new driver's. It happens to all of them. Even the great Dale Sr had a dry spell. Here's the thing. I think when he does get another one it will make him hungrier to keep going and beat records..so it's hard to say, but honestly, I wouldn't count him out just b/c your a JR fan.. You can't argue with facts, talents, and stats..
I think he's the only one with a chance. Tony Stewart is the only one who comes next, and I love Tony..but I don't think he'll see 8 before his retirement either.

Heres my pick. Since I love Jeff Gordon he is my pick and then Jimmie Johnson, or Kasey Kahne, maybe Kevin Harvick. I am absolutely 100% behind Jeff Gordon winning mroe then Sr. and Petty. I love Hendrick but dont get me started on who I don't like because even though he is my teammate I can't stand Kurt or Kyle Busch because they are cry babies I swear they complain when things don't go their way and when they got pulled over for drunk driving they denied it. I personally think Gordon has a really good shot at winning this year or someother good person, and Stewart is to aggressive and he doesn't get as many penalties as he deserves and you can't make the chase every single year and this year will be the last year because they are modifying it but Gordon didn't make it his Rookie year I believe, and so what if Stewart didn't make it, as I said you cant be in them all. If their is another driver who is worse then Stewart on aggressiveness it has to be Robby Gordon I swear I do not like him one bit because he intentionally spins people out for absolutely no reason does anyone else notice that? I sure do and wouldn't care if he ever raced again maybe he should stick to Indy or whatever he did before NASCAR. Let me know what you think.

Jeff Gordon is not my favorite driver but never say never. To answer your question NO. Not enough drivers stay with the same team long enough to get eight driver championships. From the time Richard Petty won his first championship, it took him 15 more years to get his 7nth. From the time Dale Earnhardt won his first championship it took him 14 more years to get his 7nth. And they were both with the same team before and after that. At this time in the sport I don't think many if any drivers will either be with the same team or in the sport for that long.

If you are going to ask these types of questions, you cannot rule Jeff Gordon out as a possibility. Maybe he doesn't have the luck behind him right now, but he is actually in a pretty good position to take the title this year.

With that said, I still do not think any driver will win 8 championships. The competition is too close and the demands on a driver are such that nobody will stay in the sport long enough to win that many championships.

I think gordon could win another one but i dont think anyone will ever make the 8 level. Racing is just getting so hard to win cause just about every team is fast. I would love to see gordon get that. But you can think about it this way. Gordon has 4...will anyone ever get that many now? I dont think that will happen either. Racing is different now than it was years ago.

How can you ask a question about winning a NASCAR championship and tell us not to mention Jeff Gordon?! Helllooooooo? JG is on fire! Maybe he wont win this year, maybe he will...BUT i think of all the current racers he has the closest chance of winning 7 or even 8 championships.

Dont be so quick to count him out just cause ur not a fan.
Jimmie Johnson would be my next pick...but he'll come nowhere close to 8 championships. Maybe 2 or 3.

Stewart. NO WAY. Hes too aggressive and accident prone. He'll never win another title. He sucks.

We haven't seen the driver that will win 8 championships yet. Out of the current group Tony Stewart has the best chance to get close.

I'd love to see anybody win 8 championships but DALE EARNHARDT JR. he's such a whiny baby and he thinks that everyone should love him just because he's the son of a 7 time cup winner. to be honest i don't like Jr. or Sr. or jimmie johnston or jeff gordon. but iam pulling for JEFF GORDON to be the one to win 8 cup championships

What makes you think JG could not win again? I think he is as good as ever the team may not be as good. Perhaps the resources are spread too thin. The question is will anyone be around long enough in the sport from today's drivers. The push is for younger and younger drivers. The question is will anyone last in the sport long enough to win 8 championships. Other than Gordon I don't think anyone will last in the sport long enough.

too much competition now. Gordan was lucky he started when he did. there is no way he could have the championships at the present time. he won his when the number the was the only competition. if you are off just a little now , you can't even finish in the top ten each week.
