I am a 24 yo straight man and I never had a gf or anything close to a gf. Lately, I have been wondering about how that has affected my brain/mental development and how it will continue to do so.

Any response would be appreciated.

Thanks.

A girlfriend is a large commitment of time that you can use for other development.

Not having a girlfriend will stunt your understanding of male/female relationships and all the dynamics associated with them. That may not be a terrible thing. A lot of energy goes into dealing with those dynamics.

As long as you recognize how it affects you and you are Ok with it, there won't be a problem. Don't expect to be an expert at relationships, if you end up in one eventually. Be honest about your newbie status and things can develop naturally from there. There may be women that appreciate your tabula rasa about relationships after dealing with some experts that hurt them.

Watch 40 year old virgin and avoid some of the pitfalls you see in that movie and you'll be fine.

At the age of 24, I don't think there's much more brain development going on (not to be confused with learning!) If it's effecting you emotionally, you could talk to someone about it, or you could try being a little more outgoing! Good luck!

I might say that you are pretty smart. Your brain is functioning perfectly. You are free to do as you please and enjoy life as you wish. There is nothing holding you back and you aren't thinking with the "wrong head". However, at some point you will want to share your life with someone who's company you enjoy. That will make all the difference when you decide to enter into a relationship. Until then, enjoy!
