It must be noted that during the first two and a half centuries (1565-1828) Spain ruled the country through Mexico. The viceroy of Mexico governed the country in the name of the Spanish king. During this period the famous Manila-Acapulco trade existed. And many Mexicans--colonial officials, missionaries, soldiers, and traders--came to the Philippines. They introduced plants and animals, industries, songs and dances, customs and traditions into the country. Moreover, many of them married Filipino women. So it came to pass that Filipino acquired a Mexican heritage.

The Spanish had cannons and guns and much better metal work, but you know what? It wasn't all that easy because the Filipinos aggressively continued to rebel and fight, there was sort of an underground, guerrilla warfare at times, and after the USA took over and e didn't deliver on the promise of freedom, it continued against the USA.

because the the filipinos only had sticks and stones for their weapons... and the spaniards had swords... they had this blood compact thing with magellan and lapu-lapu (this filipino leader)... its like they promised that they wont attack each other or sumthing but those spaniards just went on and conquered us... i mean the filipinos... oh and after like 300 years.. that's like.. when the spaniards left the philippines... and then the japanese people came... and then the U.S. came.. if you ask me, when the U.S. was in charge of Philippines.. it was much better.. everything was clean and organized... but now philippines is just full of crap..
