Absolutely!! Carolinas fans would not be there if the Hurricanes won 19 games a year like the Whalers did. If you had won the Stanley Cup anywhere, the fair weather fans would fill the arena until they started losing. Would you pay $3000/year to see the Hurricanes win 19 games this year? Most people wouldn't. Peter Karmanos bought the team with no intention of keeping it in Hartford. The arena was filled to 96% capacity. Sounds like it wasn't the fans but the bad management of Peter Karmanos and Gary Bettman who led the Whalers and even the Jets to leave town. I would move a franchise to Hartford or Winnipeg in a heartbeat!

Winnipeg should get the team back Bettman took them away from a great hockey town which had fans and that would sell out in the playoffs which some teams didn't. and yes Carolina should go back to Hartford they to lost there team for no real reason and the same goes for Quebec Nordiques. and with the new salary cap would work in Canada.
Hockey freak>>>> you could go buy a playoff ticket on game day in Carolina the Champs, that means that its not a hockey town just because they won the cup. Montreal is the oldest team and been around before the NHL was around. you couldn't even buy a ticket on game day in Montreal on a regular season game let alone the playoffs.
dukalink>>>>>>>>>> the teams left cause they needed a new arena well Winnipeg and Quebec have new arenas and can fill them up. why did Bettman let Minnesota North Stars leave and go to Dallas and 2 years latter bring them back to Minnesota. cause Bettman is a ******* asshole and shouldn't be commissioner of hockey he did a bad job with the NBA and now he is screwing with the NHL, and its gone all down hill since hes been there.

Yes! You sir are a genius! I don't know about the Phoenix thing, but move those Whalers back to Hartford, or at least Pittsburgh, then move the Pens to Hartford and make them call themselves the New England Whalers.

the only participant left over from the Whalers is the Assistant Captain Glen Wesley, (he's a defenseman and he's #2). Wesley became into selection 7 on a itemizing of gamers that had performed the main playoff video games without prevailing a cup. He performed 169 playoff video games earlier the Canes gained the cup.

Oh no, we love our Hurricanes here in North Carolina. I am a hockey fan and last time I checked, I was REAL!! I just don't get that -why people think that us southern folks aren't real hockey fans!! BTW, Habitant, for your 411 - I did try to get tickets for the plays offs and there were none to be found, other than the ones people were trying to poach off on a person at ridiculous prices. Furthermore, y'all need to listen to Hockey Freak - that girl knows her stuff and believe me I know that she knows here stuff about hockey and more especially, the Stanley Cup Champs - Hurricanes.

I agreee with phoenix moving back, however, i think because of winning the cup, carolina will begin to have a new following, i do believe that we should have a team in Hartford, take it from Pittsburg, or Florida, any one of those type of teams that arent doing well, where they are at, or struggling finacially.

Why would you ruin a good money making team just because a few fans dont beleive hockey should be a southern sport. Obviously you havent been to one of our games. It so hard to find a parking spot and it gets very crowded. Why dont they move montreal or vancuver to winnipeg or or hartford. If you want those teams so bad.

Absolutely not. They have new homes and new fans now. If they were such great fans in Hartford and Winnepeg, how come they lost their teams? Could it be lack of support?
