today in MLB there are EIGHT freakin teams who got shut out.

is this a record? what IS the record if not?

that is, if I may add, pretty pathetic.

i'm sorry- the Angels/Balt. game is still in the 6th inning but still a shutout as of now - seriously... even with SEVEN teams getting shut out that's really - is it the weather?

There are only 7 so far today, but a potential for at least 8 which would tie the record from like 1975 or something like that. Put on Baseball Tonight on ESPN, they've mentioned it like 4 times already. And yes, that is quite pathetic.

Sorry, only 7 shutouts today (with two rainouts, it could have been 8).

The MLB record for shutouts in a single day is 8, set 34 years ago.

there were actually seven shutuots today, the record is 8 set in june 1972
