I think a lot of people feel that voting is an exercise in futility...it seems both parties in US play handmaiden to corporate America whose agenda has replaced that of ordinary folk. The Republican war in Iraq alone has cost over $310 000 000 000 already, and meanwhile there are about 45 million Americans without health insurance...the gap between rich and poor has never been so high, which is an indication of a sick and unjust society. I agree with you, too, generally apathy means the worst elements stay in power.

Because some just don't care, some are not educated enough to, some don't think their one little vote will matter, some have felonies and aren't allowed to, some may think it's all rigged anyway, so why vote. There may be more reasons, but apathy at the polls sems to be increasing.

I don't understand either, voting is such a privilege and we are so blessed to be able to vote. I'm sure the citizens of China, Cuba, etc. would love to be able to vote and come out in droves to do so.
I hope somebody who answers this questions can explain one GOOD reason...not excuse as to why people won't/don't vote.

The nature of mankind is to escape responsibility. It is each American's responsibility to vote. Too many irresponsible people out there.

People feel intimidated to try to make an informed decision and they figure apathy will help things change. You cant solve your problems by just sitting around.

People probably don't vote because there isn't anyone worth voting for.
