I just started "working-out" about last week without any work out machines (25-30 push ups and 100 sit-ups and sometimes 4-8 pull ups.) I'm mainly working on my upper body right now because I run track and cross country which is enough running for me. I heard that it's best to work out every other night because working out tears down your muscles and needs a day to regrow or something like that.

You can work out every day, but you should use different muscle groups on alternating days. That is conventional wisdom; however, in Basic Training, we worked everything every day.

I would say that if you want endurance, work every day, but if you want strength, work every other day.

Yes, you should wait 48-72 hours between sets. This gives your muscles time to repair themselves. The reason that your muscles get bigger and stronger is because you are actually tearing the muscle fibers. When they heal, they heal in a way so that they are stronger and more efficient. Take plenty of protein to help your muscles heal faster. Multiply your weight (in pounds) by .8 and that is how many grams you should take on a day that you exercise. When not exercising you should take .36 multiplied by your weight.

work out different parts of your body different days. Have one day for your legs, one for your back and chest, one arms day. There are so many different ways you can work out. Just try to do something like 5 times a week. Take a couple of days off to rest, but do your core everyday. Have one day of planks, or bridges. Next work your lower abs, then work your top muscles the next. Just have fun, and good luck.

Yeah, give your body a break so that your muscles have time to heal. Also, work out more with you legs. Don't become a muscle bound guy up top and stick boy on the bottom.

That is right. Your muscles need to recuperate after a work out. So give it a rest for a day or two before working out again.

It is okay to work out your abs every day. However, you need to give your other muscles a day of rest before working them out again. You can work different muscles every day, but don't work the same every day.

Depends... If your in shape do it every other night because muscles need time to relax sometimes.

But... if your over weight or trying to lose weight do it every night.... but try not to do as manny push ups ( do at most 20 ) and also sit ups ( 30 - 40 ) . The reason I say this is because you dont want to over do yourself if your trying to lose weight.

you should rest the set of muscles you worked, one day, on the next. you can usually keep a daily workout by focusing on the upper body, one day, and the lower, the next. repeat. this gives the muscles used the day before their needed rest.

You are right with what you heared. Your muscles need a rest in between training. Eveery other day is fine and sometimes missing a whole weekend is ok especially if your muscles feel tired.

You can work out every night but be sure to rotate which exercises that you do otherwise you could hurt your body and you don't want that.

Run one day , next day push ups sit-up, run next day etc...
