Please tell me why is it that even so called second generation Lebanese born and brought up in Australia cannot speak English. I met a girl (Lebanese) on Yahoo, who claims that she was born in Australia, and is a 20 year old College student, but her English is pathatic!
I can understand people holding onto their culture and values, I am all for it, but don't you think one should at least try their very best to learn the language and some of the culture of the country they are born and ultimately living in.
Mind you, I am not an Australian, and not even of European heritage. But I think people should try to assimilate into the society they live in, well at least take the best from the culture they have moved into.
Anyway, the bottom line is.... could anyone, even any other Lebanese living in Australia care to answer my question. Why aren't the Lebanese trying harder to learn the language and culture of their host country?

Hey, someone claims that I am a racist!!!
Far from it, I grew up as a "foreigner" in the UK in the 70s' and 80s' when people of colour were referred to as "Wogs" etc... so I know how it feels like to be in the receiving end of a racist remark.
I know for a fact that many Arabs do have an attitude problem. They wish to move to another country but very much unwilling to live by the rules of the host country, whereas if you were to say move to Saudi Arabia or Dubai tomorrow you will realise instantly how badly you will be treated unless you follow the local culture totally.
Sorry about my speilllllling (spelling), just typing fast to do any spell check.
