Well we own the competition... hubby bought before I met him and before he left a $90K+ job and entered Med school. Now he is out and that salary is cut in half (for at least the next 3 years). So is mine, so we roll in luxury which is paid for but would not be bought with the income we now have. Other car is a Toyota. I refuse to ever buy a gas guzzler. The X3 gets 15 miles to a gallon. That is entirely ridiculous.

I won't tell you how much I make, but a rule of thumb in figuring how much you can spend on a car is to divide your yearly income by three. So someone making $60,000 a year could afford a $20,000 car and someone making $150,000 could afford a $50,000 car. My BMW (2001 325i) was $31,500 new. I'll admit, it was out of my price range for my salary then. But now I'm earning a lot more and the car is totally paid off. I feel like I've done very well by purchasing this car and just keeping up with maintenance and repairs.

I saw this question and I decided to say something. My bro owned one once it was a 2000 BMW 740i. But why are you asking people how much they make a year? Also do you own a BMW?
