I used to sit my son in the child seat bit. He had the seat belt on, leaned forward, and tipped the whole trolley up. He then got stuck under the trolley and I couldn't get the trolley up and the belt off quick enough. So I then started standing him at the back of the trolley, with the belt around him. It was safer, and if he fell it would only be in the trolley. Shopping with kids is a big ordeal. The supermarkets need to come up with a more secure way of restraining the kids in the trollies. I've seen alot of accidents (being an ex supermarket worker). I had not purposely put my son in danger, but honestly there is not a safe way to put a child in a trolley.

Because their child is way too smart to get hurt - or so they think .
Then there are those who don't think that far in advance . Children are seriously injured in shopping cart falls , yet many parents are oblivious . I see toddlers standing in carts while parents walk away from them ; while kids who can walk , try to see if they can tip the carts over on themselves ; and often do . Assuming most parents can read - this is still happening in stores that have large posters on their walls , warning about the dangers of shopping carts , to children .

Are you a mum?
when mums are shopping and they have 2 or more kids it is so hard to keep them all in sight, under control and entertained. they dont say to the kid "jump in son stand up and dont hold the side , i want to see if we can crack your head when you fall this time" usually theyve told the child over and over to sit, and rather than become a public scene where every little "no child" mongrel wants to throw in their comment, they keep quiet, get the shopping done and get out of the supermarket.

Parents like that are the same ones that let their kids run up and down the aisles screaming and destroying the shelves.
Trying to change a world full of bad parents won't do anything but piss you off.

I have No idea... or ride on the end of a cart even. They either sit or walk in my book.

It has a lot to do with "natural selection" - survival of the fittest. Stupid parents = stupid children. Nature's way of being sure the strong survive by weeding out the gene pool.

It's just plain sad that the adults would literally ignore the children. They should be held accountable.
