With no big cities in the nearby area, how would you rate this city to live with regards to job, weather, raising children, schools, colleges, clubbing, grocery etc pretty much everything.

I have been told thats its an okay place to live, if not the most exciting place on earth. Good town for kids and safe for the school buses. I bet the fall there is pretty. I suspect that its a conservative area, and that there is a sizeable LDS population. Someone who lives there can furnish more info. Idaho in general is a conservative state.

I grew up in Chicago and moved to Boise 6 years ago.

My job takes me all over the US to almost all cities.
BOISE ROCKS!!!
Jobs are good but Idaho is a "right to work" so wages are low. Thats why I dont work there.
Weather is spectacular. This was the main reason that I moved here. Summers are nice with NO humidity and winters are very mild. I golf 10 months out of the year. Plus, If I want to ski in the winter, Bogus Basin is 20 mins from my home.

BSU is a great school. I completed my second BS there.

Schools are good, but dont know how they compare to where you are. My wife is a teacher and she raves about them. I think they could use improvement.

Boise has a good night life, good live music. Every Wed there is a "live after 5" bash downtown with dancing and live music.

Groceries are the same as anywhere else I suppose.

Seattle is a short flight or an awesome drive.

Oh, and the people for the most part are really cool. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Theres a few pics on my 360 page of Idaho.

I mountain bike, white water kayak, camp, raft, hike and climb. All within a 1 hour drive to Boise.

So, again, I was born in Chicago but Boise is my favorite spot on the planet.

It has it's problems like many secluded midwestern cities have, but all in all it's a nice place. Be prepared for the harsh winter weather and wind chill index.

I think it's pretty much like most of the other state capitals, boring with little population.
