You mentioned you *always* have tight shoulders and neck,
and I suspect it might be caused by unconscious anxiety and stress.
If so,
Aromatherapy massage is a great way to solve the root problem of anxiety and stress, which will make your tight shoulders and neck disappear :)
As for aromatherapy sessions, there is no such thing as too long,
once you experienced it, you might want to stay in that relax state for 2-3 hours !!

I'm a Massage Therapist and my advice would depend on what you are looking for. I mean are you wanting to do this on a regular basis or are you just treating yourself? If your pain is chronic then I definately reccomend getting at least a 60 min massage so your therapist can check everything out (except your feet) A good therapist will be able to read your body and your responses to the pressure but you also have to communicate what you are feeling if its too much or you want more. If you plan on getting massages on a regular basis then in most cases deep tissue is best but I have met people whose bodies just tensed up more when deeper pressure was applied and they really relaxed when I used lighter pressure. So I guess in summary it's really all about what you're looking for and what you like and you won't know what you like until you try it, but definately try it!! Good Luck!!

Do NOT start out with a deep tissue massage. If you've never had a massage before, deep tissue would be very intense (read as painful).
Swedish is a very good massage to start with. Just ask your therapist not to massage your feet... and maybe even leave your socks on to enforce it.

Massage is excellent and doesn't tickle. They don't have to touch your feet (your neck hurts). Go for swedish or deep tissue (depends if you can stand a bit of pain and pressure), and it will move the muscles so that the toxins in your muscles can move out and fresh blood and nutrients go into the muscle.
I would have a massage daily if I could afford it! Go for it and it will help.
Also use heat on your shoulders and neck to help your muscles relax after a long day.
Rub them yourself.

Definitely have a deep tissue massage. And if the masseur/masseuse is using too much or too little pressure for your comfort, tell them. Theidea is for you to enjoy it and feel better afterwards.
In terms of length, I prefer 90 minutes, but 60 is a good amount especially for a first time.

if you want a relaxing massage go for the swedish... 60 mins. is the normal length, so no it's not to long (but it will seem to short once the massage is over).

1 hour is just enough - u will never notice how it'll pass. if u relax, it's not ticklish. massage is great... aromatherapy one is just heaven.
