Steve Irwin was truly a great Australian, his love for his country and native animals and animals from all over the world was certainly a rare commodity in today's society, and shall be missed by many fans, friends and not least his his family. You ask why some people would like to see a film about his death. I think that some people would get closure from seeing a film about his death, as it happened to be a rare way to go, although not unheard of. The way I see it, Personalities, TV stars, Popular Media Personalities are always going to be under scrutiny from fans, the general public, tabloids and even weird people with not nice thoughts. I would watch such a film / movie should one be made, but not as someone keen on watching someones demise, but watching it out sheer courage and praise for someone who risked his own life every time he shot a film or presented a show at his zoo, this was done with love and also in the hopes of educating us and getting us to understand our fragile eco system. Sad as it was to heard of his death, I am glad he went out via the very thing he loved " Wild Life". I think that's another reason why people would watch a film like this, it would be a fitting end an Animal Lover and Conservationist and a Great Australian it would be a "Tribute to Steve Irwin"
don't think of it as unsympathetic, think of it as closure

Same reason people crowd around a street corner when there's a car accident, same reason traffic stops to a near standstill when someone is pulled over or rear-ended. This kind of traffic behavior torques me off, but its because I'm impatient. I don't see anything wrong with people wanting to see the video. It's part of our behavior...it interests us in general. What is so unsympathetic and explicit about wanting to see the video? Millions of people everyday look at clips of the World Trade Center building collapsing. Hell, they even made movies out of the catastrophes. Besides scale, what is the difference here?
Right now, millions of people are googling trying to find this video. I do not view them as unsympathetic as much as I do bored.

I think it is normal to be curious. I think this is morbid curiousity and I also think it is fairly common. We are all SO different. What is private and sacred to one person is very interesting and inviting to another. Remember, if it is shown, you have the choice not to view it.
By the way, I posted a question re: Mr. Irwin on the day he was killed. You wouldn't believe the problems that caused with one of the loonies on this site. I not only got unkind email, he then had my next question deleted,by reporting it.I hope he doesn't see this one. But it is a perfect example of how different we all are.
Here is what Yahoo told me,thanks to him:
Question: Why in the WORLD did you just do that?
Details of Violation: (Hmmmmmm....what did you do?)
Reason of Violation:Chatting or Private Correspondence :
Be on guard.

I feel as if he was going to be around for a very long time. His death is so unfortunate and so untimely. I hated that he died so early. I think that that's what they said Steve Irwin would've wanted. He seemed to me that he would have wanted his death to be on film. Everything else he did was on tape. I am so truly sorry that he died. Rest in peace. If he was a homophobic, racist, prejudiced goon, then I take everything back that I just typed and hope that he rots in Hell like we are rotting in Hell (way too many turds here), staying glad that he's dead, of course. You never know with people.

People probably just want to get the facts straight that's all. May be some that are loyal to his shows watching him catching live animals every week are in disbelief. how much more decency should that really be. People wants to know exactly what's going on, because the media never really get their stories straight anyways. Actually someone was pissed off about it and they want to find ways and hunt those sting rays for food if possible.

People just love to watch car crashes don't they.
I always liked that guy, he was very good at what he did.
I have no desire to see the film. People are drooling and begging others as to where they can find a copy.
I have been told that the worst and most dangerous beast is the human race. That is true!

i have no interest to watch that. i think no one should see how he died. there were only a few people with him when he died that saw the whole thing. and i think those are the only ones who should.
i feel so bad for his wife and his two children. his youngest is only 2...and he will have never of known his father.

Well, rumor has it that he said if I die, keep the tape running.
He was larger than life and he would probably get a kick knowing that millions of people saw him die in action.
