Less weight = better gas mileage

Less water used to process the material = less polluted water

longer lasting = fewer matierials mined in the future

More reliable = less expensive to repair, lower cost of operation

The major advantage is weight reduction, and that translates into much better fuel economy.

And, hard as it might be to believe, plastics can actually make a vehicle's occupants safer in an accident. They can do this by their proper use in critical crush areas causing the vehicle to absorb more of the energy in a crash which transmits less of the force to the occupants. And plastic interior parts are a heck of a lot better to bounce your noggin off than steel.

And, thank God, plastics don't rust.

The first thing that comes to mind would be weight reduction.

weight which in turn gives you better gas efficensy but on the down side will make your car less sturdy so if you get hit your car may crumple easier. but it will hopefully make you auto lighter which in turn gives you better gas millage
