I have been involved in the medical care area for 30 years and am convinced that the vast majority of physicians prescribe what they think will work for you. They do not do it to make money.
That said, the pharmaceutical industry does influence their prescribing by visits by drug reps and advertisements. We do live in a free-enterprise country and the drug industry does have a right to advertise their product. The drug industry has really come up with a lot of very amazing drugs over the years that cure diseases and extend life. They also have come out with a lot of imitations that really are not worth the price.
Get to know your pharmacist and you will get some good advice.

It's possible that some doctors do. That's because there are always some one who's going to try this. Just like there are some doctors who cheat on Medicare etc.
But the majority, thank God, don't. It's true that there are drug Representatives who push their own companies medications, and the doctors are willing to try them in hopes that they will help their patients. There is nothing wrong with having stock in a drug company if the doctor believes in it. But I doubt if they are going to neglect your health to which they are sworn to help.

enable's say you purchase a hundred shares of a inventory at $20 in step with proportion. it incredibly is a $2,000 investment. Now the inventory is going right down to $18 in step with proportion. Your account with the broking provider is now properly worth $a million,800. you have "lost" $2 hundred on paper. Now enable's say the inventory rallies and is going decrease back as much as $21. Now you have an account properly worth $2,a hundred so which you're $a hundred - on paper of direction. you do no longer "comprehend" your loss or income until you sell.

It's doubtful that doctors would promote meds from drug companies where they are stockholders.
Many doctors do push certain brands, as a result of receiving kickbacks from pharmaceutical salesmen. Pharm. salesmen have been coming forward about their methods to persuade doctors to promote/use their meds. Pharmaceutical sales is one of the MOST lucrative jobs to have in America. You almost have to know someone to get into that industry.

NO. None of the doctors I know have stock in pharmaceutical companies, as far as I know. Even if it were true, the few prescriptions written by the doctor would not change the value of the stock.

That's an interesting question. It sure does seem like it sometimes, doesn't it? If doctors worked more on curing than simply masking symptoms with prescription drugs, more people would be well.
