Drink hot tea with some honey... that always helped me when I was feeling sick. Just make sure that the tea is CAFFEINE FREE!!! Just relax... try taking it easy. Get warm under the blanket (especially if you have a fever... you are going to want to sweat it out)... just wait it out. If you take care of yourself... the cold will pass on it's own. If it is not getting any better... you are going to want to see the doctor. I know that you don't have one at the moment... but since you are pregnant... you will want to get rid of the cold... ASAP. Look around for a good doctor in town... as soon as you can. Okay? I hope this helps. Good luck!!

Over the counter (OTC) medications should be alright, but check with your doctor before taking anything. Your doctor knows more about your specific medical history and your pregnancy.
Treatment Options
Cough drops, VapoRub, a salt water throat gargle and a saline nose spray are fine to use. For fever and pain, use a pain reliever without aspirin. Getting proper rest and drinking lots of fluids are always recommended to fight a cold - pregnant or not.
What Not To Do
It's recommended that you avoid any medications in the first trimester with pseudoephedrine. Be careful that you do not overdo zinc lozenges. Too much zinc can actually supress the body's fight against a cold. Also, it's probably best to stay away from echinacea since there's no concrete evidence proving that it works or doesn't produce side effects.

When I was pregnant, I got this HUGE killer cold. I could take regular strenght Tylenol, use Halz cough drops, and use the throat spray. I could also use the regular strength decongestant, taking it every 4 to 6 hours. It took longer, and didn't always help me feel the greatest, but it was better than nothing.
Your doctor will be able to give you a list of the things that you can take without causing any harm to your child. As for a list. I got one with the handy binder my ob/gyn gave me when I went for my first visit. It came in very handy - especially that list of medications that I could take.
Call your doctor and find out what is safe. You may have to face facts that due to the very early stages, you may have to just suffer through it the old fashioned way.
Hot tea is a great thing - but make sure it is decaffinated.

My wife's Dr. gave her a list of common medications that are "safe" in pregnancy. For colds: Sudafed, Actifed, Claritan, Claritan D, Tylonol Cold, Tylonol Sinus, Benadryl.
Since I'm not a Doctor, I can't really recommend any of these.
I will say that the fewer drugs you take, the better; however, don't be afraid of taking drugs you need and a doctor has approved.
Get a doctor soon.
The list was distributed by Women's Physicians Associates in Columbia SC.

I was SUPER paranoid taking anything when I was pregnant. If you can go with the home remedies. Herbal and green tea with honey is good to clear the nasal passage and the honey helps sooth the throat. There is always good old chicken soup. O.J. REST!!! FLUIDS!! Take your prenatal vitamins religiously. Take a hot shower. You can take tylenol (regular) for the aches and pains and it is perfectly safe (in fact my doctor said its the only safe drug)
There are a lot of things that you can do right at home, without having to put anything in your body, to make you and your baby stay healthy and safe.

You just gotta suffer through it. Try boiling water and putting your face over the steam with a towel over your head.
Old fashioned remedy.
Cool mist humidifier.
Vaseline on the nose if it chaps.
I found when I was pregnant that NOT taking cold medicines surprisingly made my colds shorter. 7-10 days hopped up on NyQuil turned into 3 days maximum on Nothing.

instead of asking if a certain medicine is ok, why dont you let the pharmacist tell you what's ok? Get a doctor first thing tomorrow, and let them tell you what you can do. For now, pour yourself some hot tea and get as much sleep as you can tonight. I hope you feel better.

Try not to take to much of anything. Just try to keep your cough down. The stress of coughing is worse than the common cold for your baby. Of course, my wife and I only have 4 kids, so we don't know anything. Doctor is not going to give you anything for a cold.

I was told to take tylenol cold. Get some cough drops, if you really don't need it, don't take it, it's a virus you just have to let it run it's course, you'll be fine.

One thing that my OB told me especially NOT to use is the little Vicks Inhalors. They contain Campho, so if any cols medicine has that listed stay away from it. Get a vaporizer.
