I must have pressed something wrong and now my keyboard is acting as if the ctrl key is perminantly being held down, i think it is stick keys or something similar, how do i stop it? I have tried pressing the left and right Ctrl keys but that has not worked.

You can just press the "Shift" key 5 times, its right above Ctrl, so you should know where it is.

clear the box in front of sticky keys

I did this a few months ago. Did not know about stickey keys. Yahoo Answers saved me.

"Stickey keys" are of great help to handicapped people.

go to the controle pannel select accessibility option
under keybord option you will get this sticky key option

hit shift 5 times and then click dont use sticky keys....
