Actually, yes, I did. There was something on TV about it years ago about famous people who were the product of cousin marriages. One of the Roosevelts was, and another president. So much for the idea that inbreeding causes stupidity.

On average though many families have genetic disorders. Continuous inbreeding is the worst. Just because people can't marry doesn't stop them from having kids together. Just because two people are suggested as being related doesn't prove it either. Where is the genetic proof about Einstein anyway? In small towns and a promiscuous father you might marry your half sibling also. I believe they have people take blood tests before marriage don't they?

You really should site your source. I did see that he married a cousin, which I find bizarre, but perhaps that's not a taboo in his culture. I personally don't think its ever OK to marry anyone in your family who is blood related to you, I would even extend this to people related by other means, but there's nothing 'seriously wrong' with that scenario. My biggest issue is from a genetic standpoint, you are really limiting the gene pool, and stand a greater chance of deformities, and other issues with inbreeding. There are too many people in this world, there's no reason to date from your family.

As long as they are both of age, what's the big deal? Personally I think it would be revolting to even hug any of my guy cousins so I wouldn't do it. But it shouldn't be up to the government to decide. Immediate family is a little different because there would be severe physical and psychological defects of the offspring.

i didnt know that about einstein, but it doesnt seem all that weird. i would be freaked out if i had to marry my own cousin tho i guess. i know people whos grandparents are cousins and that kind of stuff. its just a sign of the times, back then it was acceptable, now we wouldnt think of it. i think that who you decide to marry is your own decision, its your deal.

well, I think that if you are 3rd cousins it is ok but I wouldn't marry my 1st cousin. I don't know it would just be too weird for me. I also wouldn't want my kids to have birth defects

So all that crap about retarded inbred children is a hoax? It is still gross! I wonder if cousins could marry if they were gay? LOL
