uh, i agree with wariorman. i would hate to get a cat or dog and think, "its related to an aardvark!" or worse, have an aardvark as a pet! but i luv all animals. (^_^) (*_~)

*Subphylum Vertebrata (animals with backbones)
*Class Mammalia (warm-blooded animals with fur and mammary glands)
*Order Tubulidentata. (teeth are constructed of small tubules of dentine compressed together; the aardvark is the only member of this order)
*Family Orycteropodidae, (the aardvark is the only member of this family)
*Genus Orycteropus
*Species afer
There are not in a family of dog nor cat.

They are mammals, and not very closely related to dogs, cats, or in fact any other kind of well-known mammal.
